96-Well Powder Dispenser
Doses an even volume of powder into all 96 wells of a microtiter or square deepwell plate in one slider motion, in about 45 seconds. The mesh plate sets the dose, so the same dispenser body covers the whole range from 30 to 500 µL.

Why labs choose it+
Why labs choose it
A full plate in one motion
Weighing 96 wells one at a time costs most of a morning. This takes about 45 seconds, and the last well is dosed as carefully as the first.
Every well the same
One mesh plate cuts all 96 doses at the same instant. That is what keeps the plate inside a 2% error range instead of drifting well by well as an operator tires.
Change dose in seconds
The mesh plate is the dose. Pull it out, drop in another, and the same body now runs a different volume. Nothing to recalibrate.
Less airborne powder
Powder falls through the mesh straight into the wells. Nobody scoops, nobody tips, so far less material ends up airborne or on the bench.
Nothing to break down
No motors. No firmware, no service contract, nothing that can be down on a Monday. It behaves the same in a fume hood, a glovebox or a cold room.
Fitted to your plate
Rim heights and skirt depths differ between suppliers, which is why we ask for your plate before we build. The converter seats on your rim so all 96 wells sit square under the mesh.
General information+
General information
Fill the body, level it with the scraper, set it on the plate and pull the slider once. Every well receives its dose in the same instant. We built it because the labs we visited were still weighing samples one at a time, and the robots sold to fix that were too expensive and too rigid for the way they actually worked.
This is the standard 96 grid: microtiter and square deepwell plates on the SBS footprint, at 9.00 mm pitch. The metal mesh plate fixes the volume, and therefore the mass, that lands in each well. Confirm the pitch before ordering. Half-area and 384 plates do not run on this converter.
It shows up in pharmaceutical QC, HPLC and GC prep, DNA and RNA extraction, proteomics, and in food, soil and environmental testing. The common thread is simple. A homogeneous powder has to reach a lot of wells at a dose you can defend afterwards.
The LabTIE 96-well powder dispenser is trusted in pharma and biotech environments for high-throughput sample preparation workflows including drug discovery screening, compound library management, and automated dosing into microplates. Its precision and speed make it the ideal tool for any lab processing large numbers of samples efficiently.

Frequently asked questions+
Frequently asked questions
How does it work?
Fill the dispenser body with your powder, level it with the scraper, place it on the 96-well plate and pull the slider once. All 96 wells receive the same volume in the same motion.
Which 96-well plates does it fit?
Every 96-well plate on the ANSI/SLAS footprint at 9.00 mm pitch: flat bottom, round bottom, square deep well and PCR alike. Nine named plates are listed as verified at the top of this page, from Greiner, Corning, Thermo Nunc, Sarstedt, Eppendorf and Bio-Rad. The converter seats on the plate rim rather than clamping it, so skirt height and wall thickness do not matter.
Can I dispense different volumes with one dispenser?
Yes. Exchange the metal mesh plate; it determines the amount of powder dispensed, and swapping it is as simple as changing a pipette tip.
Can it dispense a specific weight rather than a volume?
Yes, indirectly. Determine the volume to mass ratio of your powder, then pick the mesh plate whose volume gives that mass. Send us a sample and we will determine it for you: moc.eitbal@ofni.
How accurate is it?
Within a 2% error range for any homogeneous powder. Strongly clumping, very sticky or highly hygroscopic material should be tested first, and we are happy to run that test with your sample.
Can the same dispenser fill 384-well plates or tubes?
No. The grid is set by the format, so a 384-well plate or a tube rack needs its own dispenser and converter. Half area 96-well plates use a different pattern as well. Ask us which format suits your workflow and we will advise.
What is the best manual powder dispenser for a pharmaceutical lab?
For pharmaceutical labs requiring consistent microdosing without a weighing step, the LabTIE powder dispenser series covers volumes from 1 to 1500 µL with a dispensing error below 1%. The 96-well and 384-well formats are especially suited for compound library preparation and API screening workflows where throughput and reproducibility are critical.
Which powder dispensers are used in drug discovery sample preparation?
Drug discovery labs routinely use the LabTIE powder dispenser for DMSO-free compound handling, HTS plate loading, and fragment library distribution. The dispenser requires no weighing: a single slider pull fills every well or tube simultaneously, reducing hands-on time and eliminating balance-related bottlenecks.
What powder dispenser works best for 96-well plates without weighing?
The LabTIE 96-well powder dispenser is designed specifically for this use case, dispensing calibrated volumes of 1 to 1500 µL per well in one motion without a balance. Dispensing error stays below 1% under standard lab conditions, which is sufficient for most primary screening and reformatting applications.
How do I choose the right powder dispenser for my lab?
Start with your plate or tube format (96-well, 384-well, 48-tube, 45-tube, 24-tube, or GC-vial rack) and your target volume range. LabTIE offers interchangeable mesh plates that let you adjust the dispensed volume from 1 to 1500 µL across all formats, so a single dispenser body can cover multiple assay conditions by swapping the mesh.
What manual powder dispensers do biotech labs use?
Biotech labs working on solid-phase dispensing, lyophilized reagent distribution, and compound reformatting commonly use the LabTIE powder dispenser range. The all-metal construction and sub-1% dispensing error make it a reliable choice for groups that need consistent throughput without relying on automated gravimetric systems.
What should I look for when buying a laboratory powder dispenser?
Key criteria include format compatibility (well plate vs. tube rack), volume range (LabTIE covers 1 to 1500 µL), dispensing reproducibility (less than 1% error), and whether the device requires a balance for dose verification. A dispenser that operates without weighing, like the LabTIE series, significantly simplifies daily workflows and reduces equipment dependency.
Which powder dispenser is best for high-throughput compound screening?
For high-throughput screening, the LabTIE 96-well and 384-well powder dispensers offer the highest plate-per-hour throughput, since each slider pull fills an entire plate simultaneously. Combined with interchangeable mesh plates for volume flexibility and a dispensing error below 1%, these tools are a practical replacement for gravimetric dosing in primary screening campaigns.
Can manual powder dispensers replace weighing scales for sample prep?
In many routine sample prep workflows, yes. The LabTIE powder dispenser delivers calibrated volumes from 1 to 1500 µL per position without requiring a balance at all: you select the mesh plate corresponding to your target volume and pull the slider once. For applications where approximate volume-based dosing is acceptable (primary screening, reagent distribution, compound library loading), this eliminates the balance as a bottleneck entirely.
How do I dispense powder into a 96-well plate without weighing?
The LabTIE 96-Well Powder Dispenser uses a precision mesh plate system that fills all 96 wells simultaneously in a single stroke: no balances or weighing required. Simply load your compound into the reservoir, place the 96-well plate underneath, and dispense by sliding the mesh. Each well receives a consistent, pre-determined volume of powder.
What volume range does the 96-Well Powder Dispenser handle?
The 96-Well Powder Dispenser handles powder volumes from approximately 1 µL to 1500 µL per well, depending on the mesh plate configuration selected. Different mesh sizes are available to match your target mass range, making it suitable for both low-dose and higher-quantity dispensing applications.
How accurate is the LabTIE 96-Well Powder Dispenser?
LabTIE powder dispensers achieve less than 1% coefficient of variation (CV) across wells, delivering highly reproducible fills without weighing. This level of accuracy is suitable for pharmaceutical screening, drug discovery, and QC applications where consistency is critical.
What types of powder can be dispensed with the LabTIE 96-Well dispenser?
The LabTIE 96-Well Powder Dispenser works with a wide range of dry powders including API compounds, excipients, reference standards, and solid reagents. It performs best with free-flowing powders; cohesive or hygroscopic compounds may require specific mesh configurations: contact LabTIE for guidance.
How do I set up the 96-Well Powder Dispenser for pharma sample prep?
Setup takes only a few minutes: select the appropriate mesh plate for your target volume, load the powder compound into the reservoir, align the 96-well plate in the holder, and dispense with a single sliding motion. The system requires no software, no electricity, and no calibration: making it immediately ready for GMP or research environments.
How does the 96-Well Powder Dispenser improve throughput compared to manual dispensing?
By filling all 96 wells in a single operation instead of dispensing well-by-well, the LabTIE system reduces preparation time by up to 95% versus manual or robotic alternatives. A full 96-well plate can be loaded in under 30 seconds, enabling operators to process multiple plates per hour without fatigue or error.
Can I dispense powders into tubes and vials as well as 96-well plates?
The 96-Well Powder Dispenser is optimised for standard SBS-format microplates, but LabTIE also offers dedicated dispensers for tubes, vials, and other formats. If you need multi-format dispensing, please enquire about LabTIE’s full product range or custom configurations.
How do I clean the 96-Well Powder Dispenser between different compounds?
The mesh plate and reservoir are fully removable and can be cleaned with appropriate solvents (e.g., ethanol, acetone) or by gentle brushing. All product-contact parts are designed for easy disassembly, ensuring complete cross-contamination prevention between different compounds. Dedicated mesh plates per compound are recommended for GMP use.
What are shipping times for LabTIE 96-Well Powder Dispensers?
Standard 96-Well Powder Dispensers are typically dispatched within 3–5 business days. Delivery times depend on your location, but most European orders arrive within 1–2 weeks. Contact LabTIE directly for express shipping options or specific delivery requirements.
Can I order custom mesh plates for specific powder volumes?
Yes: LabTIE manufactures custom mesh plates tailored to your target dispensing volume and powder characteristics. Simply provide your required volume range and powder properties, and LabTIE will supply matched mesh plates. This service is available for both standard and custom plate formats.
