What the grant is for
Sample-prep and dispensing hardware is often the hardest line item to fund. It rarely fits a consumables budget and rarely justifies a capital grant on its own, so it sits in a gap, and the throughput and reproducibility it would bring never arrive.
We build these dispensers, so we would rather see them in labs doing real work than sitting behind a budget line. This programme puts $1,000 toward the dispenser you need, decided on the strength of your research and the size of the difference the award actually makes.
Eligible equipment
The award applies to any LabTIE dispenser.
Seed Dispensers
Germination testing, seed counting and seed DNA prep.
Choose your dispenser ›Bead Dispensers
Into plates, tubes and vials for extraction and homogenisation.
Choose your dispenser ›Powder Dispensers
Accurate dosing into laboratory containers, without weighing each one.
Choose your dispenser ›Custom mesh plates and build-to-specification configurations are included. The award applies to the dispenser, not to consumables or grinding media.
Selection criteria
10 awards in this round, so applications compete. We weigh two things equally.
The research
What the work is, what it is aiming at, where dispensing fits, and what the dispenser makes possible that is not possible now.
The need
How tight the budget is, what the dispenser replaces or enables, and whether $1,000 changes whether the purchase happens.
We lean toward labs where $1,000 is a real share of the cost, and toward early career researchers and newly established groups.
How it works
Send your application
The form asks about your lab, the dispenser you need, your project and your budget. Around ten minutes.
We review it
Monthly, against the criteria above. Every applicant gets a decision within 10 working days of the review, whichever way it goes.
If awarded, a quote follows
A LabTIE quote with the $1,000 already deducted. No obligation to proceed.

Terms
- The award covers $1,000 of the dispenser price. Shipping, VAT, import duties and any optional installation or training remain payable by the recipient.
- Recipients agree that LabTIE may name the lab and institution when describing the programme. We will not quote you or publish project detail without asking first.
- We may ask recipients for a short case study or application note within twelve months. This is a request, not a condition of the award.
- More than one application may be submitted if each covers a genuinely different need.
- Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to apply in the next round.
- The award is stated in USD. Where a LabTIE quote is issued in euros, $1,000 is converted at the prevailing rate at the time of quotation.
