48 Tube Seed Dispenser
Sows one seed into each of 48 screwcap or snapcap tubes in one slider motion, in about 45 seconds. Each tube is registered by its own Ø12.00 mm pocket on a 14.00 mm grid, so cap style and tube height do not affect the fit.

Why labs choose it+
Why labs choose it
One motion, 48 tubes
Placing seeds into 48 tubes with tweezers takes most of a coffee break and invites a missed or doubled tube. Filling, levelling and sliding takes about 45 seconds.
One seed, every position
The mesh plate holds a single seed per hole, so every tube receives exactly one seed in the same movement, run after run and between operators.
Each tube in its own pocket
The converter registers every tube in a Ø12.00 mm pocket instead of clamping the rack, so cap style and tube height do not affect the fit. Screwcap, snapcap and GC vials all seat the same way.
Static handled
Small seeds jump. The mesh plate is antistatic anodised aluminium, so seeds settle into the holes instead of scattering across the bench.
Change species in seconds
The seed mesh plate sets the seed it holds. Swap it and the same dispenser body sows a different species, with no calibration and no second instrument.
Fitted to your tube
Tube diameters and cap types vary between suppliers. The rack is built around the tube you actually use, so all 48 positions line up every time.
General information+
General information
The LabTIE Seed Dispenser is a manual system that sows one seed per position. You pour the seed onto the mesh plate, tilt the dispenser so the surplus runs back into the tray, place it on the loaded rack and pull the slider once. One seed drops into every tube at the same moment.
This is the 48 tube format, used where a run is counted in tubes rather than wells, typically for single seed DNA extraction. The Dispenser (converter) registers each tube in its own Ø12.00 mm pocket on a 14.00 mm grid and seats on the rack rim, so the tube body diameter is the only figure that decides the fit. Because tube diameters and cap types differ between manufacturers, the rack is matched to your specific tube so that all 48 positions align and no seed is dropped between them.
It is used for single seed DNA extraction, seed counting, germination and vitality testing, and variety trials, in plant breeding companies, seed testing stations and research institutes. Frequently asked questions+
Frequently asked questions
How does it work?
Pour the seed onto the mesh plate, tilt the dispenser so the surplus runs back into the tray, set it on the loaded rack and pull the slider once. All 48 tubes receive one seed at the same moment.
Which tubes fit?
Standard 1.5 and 2.0 mL microtubes, screwcap and snapcap alike, and 2 mL GC autosampler vials. The pocket is Ø12.00 mm, so body diameter is the figure that decides it: a standard microtube sits at 10.80 mm. Anything wider, such as a cryovial or a 5 mL tube, needs a converter built to that diameter.
Does the cap style matter?
No. Each tube is registered by its own pocket rather than by brackets closing around the rack, so cap style and tube height do not affect the fit. Tube height is set at build time when the rack is made to your tube.
Which seeds can it sow?
Seeds from 0.2 to 9.0 mm, across more than 120 seed types. The 29 standard plates cover species from Arabidopsis sized seed up to corn and sunflower. The plate, not the dispenser, sets the seed it holds.
My species is not on the list
Send us a seed sample. The custom seed plate (MGLT54824) is cut to your seed, and our own tech division makes the plate in house.
Can I order more mesh plates later?
Yes. Every 48 tube format seed plate can be ordered on its own for a dispenser you already own. The full list is on the mesh plates page.
Our satisfaction guarantee
We believe in the products we invented and are committed to your success. If anything you buy from us proves unsatisfactory, send us an e-mail and we adjust the system, replace the item or refund the purchase price.
That guarantee covers custom seed mesh plates and custom racks as well, which is why we would rather see your tube and your seed first than guess at a fit.
