Vendor — diameter published by the manufacturer. Format — the Ø10.80 mm body shared by the 1.5 and 2.0 mL microcentrifuge format, which is what the Ø11.00 mm hole is dimensioned on, so every brand in that format fits, snap cap and screw cap alike. The holder itself is a measured Verified fit: its 190.86 mm upper section enters the 191.25 mm span with +0.39 mm, 0.20 per side, on both axes.

Tube bodies run 39 to 44 mm long against a 30.00 mm hole, so they stand proud of the holder and lift out by hand. Body diameter is the one figure to confirm: up to Ø11.00 mm enters. Why labs choose it+

Why labs choose it

45 tubes in one motion

Forty-five tubes on a balance is an hour you will not get back. Filling, placing and sliding takes about 45 seconds.

The same dose in every tube

The Ø11.00 mm hole with a Ø13.00 mm lead in takes the standard Ø10.80 mm body with 0.20 mm clearance, so tubes drop in without fighting the holder.

Change dose in seconds

The mesh plate sets the volume. Swap it and the same body covers a different dose, with nothing to recalibrate.

Less airborne powder

Powder drops through the mesh into the tubes instead of being scooped and tipped. Less of it ends up in the air.

Nothing to break down

No motors, no software, no service contract. It works in a fume hood or a cold room exactly as it works on the bench.

Built for snap caps

Snap cap bodies sit differently in a rack than screwcaps do, and the difference is enough to throw the alignment. The converter for this build is dimensioned for snap caps, and the rack pocket is cut to your tube.

General information+

General information

Fill the body with powder, level it with the scraper, place it on the loaded rack and pull the slider once. All 45 tubes receive the same volume at the same moment. It replaces the analytical balance for volume-based dosing, which is most of what a prep bench actually does.

This is the 45-tube format with a snap cap converter. The metal mesh plate decides the volume, and therefore the mass, that lands in each tube. Because tube bodies differ between manufacturers, we cut the rack around the tube you actually use rather than a nominal 2 mL.

It is used in pharmaceutical formulation and QC, HPLC and GC prep, DNA and RNA extraction, and in food, soil and environmental testing. Send us your tube part number with the quote request and we confirm the body diameter before anything is cut.

Frequently asked questions+

Frequently asked questions

How does it work?

Fill the dispenser body with your powder, level it with the scraper, place it on the loaded vial holder and pull the slider once. All 45 tubes receive the same volume in the same motion.

How is this different from the 45 Tube Powder Dispenser?

Same 45 position idea, different geometry. This version is a square 191.25 × 191.25 mm converter on a 42.50 × 21.25 mm grid with a Ø11.00 mm holder hole, dimensioned around the snap cap tube. The standard 45 Tube Powder Dispenser is 121.00 × 81.00 mm on a 16.20 × 13.10 mm grid with a Ø12.10 mm pocket. Tell us which tube you run and we will confirm which one you need.

Do screw cap tubes fit as well?

Yes. The Ø11.00 mm hole is dimensioned on the Ø10.80 mm body shared by the 1.5 and 2.0 mL microcentrifuge format, so screw cap tubes in that format, such as the Sarstedt 72.694.600, enter the same way.

Can I dispense different volumes with one dispenser?

Yes. Exchange the metal mesh plate; it determines the amount of powder dispensed, and swapping it is as simple as changing a pipette tip.

Can it dispense a specific weight rather than a volume?

Yes, indirectly. Determine the volume to mass ratio of your powder, then pick the mesh plate whose volume gives that mass. Send us a sample and we will determine it for you: moc.eitbal@ofni.

How accurate is it?

Within a 2% error range for any homogeneous powder. Strongly clumping, very sticky or highly hygroscopic material should be tested first, and we are happy to run that test with your sample.

How long does delivery take?

Shipping is world wide with DHL Express and takes 7 to 20 working days. Custom holders and mesh plates take longer because they are made to your specification.

What is the best manual powder dispenser for a pharmaceutical lab?

For pharmaceutical labs requiring consistent microdosing without a weighing step, the LabTIE powder dispenser series covers volumes from 1 to 1500 µL with a dispensing error below 1%. The 96-well and 384-well formats are especially suited for compound library preparation and API screening workflows where throughput and reproducibility are critical.

Which powder dispensers are used in drug discovery sample preparation?

Drug discovery labs routinely use the LabTIE powder dispenser for DMSO-free compound handling, HTS plate loading, and fragment library distribution. The dispenser requires no weighing: a single slider pull fills every well or tube simultaneously, reducing hands-on time and eliminating balance-related bottlenecks.

What powder dispenser works best for 96-well plates without weighing?

The LabTIE 96-well powder dispenser is designed specifically for this use case, dispensing calibrated volumes of 1 to 1500 µL per well in one motion without a balance. Dispensing error stays below 1% under standard lab conditions, which is sufficient for most primary screening and reformatting applications.

How do I choose the right powder dispenser for my lab?

Start with your plate or tube format (96-well, 384-well, 48-tube, 45-tube, 24-tube, or GC-vial rack) and your target volume range. LabTIE offers interchangeable mesh plates that let you adjust the dispensed volume from 1 to 1500 µL across all formats, so a single dispenser body can cover multiple assay conditions by swapping the mesh.

What manual powder dispensers do biotech labs use?

Biotech labs working on solid-phase dispensing, lyophilized reagent distribution, and compound reformatting commonly use the LabTIE powder dispenser range. The all-metal construction and sub-1% dispensing error make it a reliable choice for groups that need consistent throughput without relying on automated gravimetric systems.

What should I look for when buying a laboratory powder dispenser?

Key criteria include format compatibility (well plate vs. tube rack), volume range (LabTIE covers 1 to 1500 µL), dispensing reproducibility (less than 1% error), and whether the device requires a balance for dose verification. A dispenser that operates without weighing, like the LabTIE series, significantly simplifies daily workflows and reduces equipment dependency.

Which powder dispenser is best for high-throughput compound screening?

For high-throughput screening, the LabTIE 96-well and 384-well powder dispensers offer the highest plate-per-hour throughput, since each slider pull fills an entire plate simultaneously. Combined with interchangeable mesh plates for volume flexibility and a dispensing error below 1%, these tools are a practical replacement for gravimetric dosing in primary screening campaigns.

Can manual powder dispensers replace weighing scales for sample prep?

In many routine sample prep workflows, yes. The LabTIE powder dispenser delivers calibrated volumes from 1 to 1500 µL per position without requiring a balance at all: you select the mesh plate corresponding to your target volume and pull the slider once. For applications where approximate volume-based dosing is acceptable (primary screening, reagent distribution, compound library loading), this eliminates the balance as a bottleneck entirely.

How does the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser work?

The LabTIE 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser is designed specifically for snap-cap tube formats, filling all 45 tubes simultaneously using a precision mesh plate in a single dispensing stroke. The system accommodates the geometry of snap-cap closures, ensuring accurate and consistent fills without any individual weighing.

How do I dispense powder into 45 snap-cap tubes without weighing?

Load your compound into the reservoir, insert 45 snap-cap tubes into the rack holder, and dispense with a single sliding motion. The precision mesh plate distributes powder evenly across all 45 tubes simultaneously, eliminating manual weighing and dramatically reducing preparation time.

What volume range does the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser handle?

The dispenser supports volumes from approximately 1 µL to 1500 µL per tube, with multiple mesh configurations available for different target masses. The appropriate mesh plate is selected based on your required dispensing volume and powder flow characteristics.

How accurate is the LabTIE 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser?

LabTIE dispensers achieve less than 1% CV across all 45 tubes, providing highly reproducible fills without the need for gravimetric verification. This level of accuracy is suitable for pharmaceutical sample preparation, compound library management, and analytical workflows.

Can the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser be used for drug discovery sample preparation?

Yes: snap-cap tubes are widely used in compound storage and distribution for drug discovery. The LabTIE dispenser enables rapid, simultaneous filling of 45 tubes per batch, making it an efficient solution for compound library preparation, reformatting, and distribution workflows.

What types of powder can be dispensed with the LabTIE snap-cap tube dispenser?

The dispenser works with a wide range of dry powders including APIs, compound library materials, reference standards, and excipients. Free-flowing powders perform optimally; for cohesive or hygroscopic compounds, contact LabTIE to identify the best mesh configuration for your material.

How do I set up the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser for pharma sample prep?

Setup is simple and tool-free: select the appropriate mesh plate, fill the powder reservoir, load 45 snap-cap tubes into the baseplate fixture, and perform one dispensing pass. The entirely mechanical design means no power supply, software, or complex calibration is needed.

How does the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser improve throughput compared to manual dispensing?

By filling all 45 tubes in a single operation, the dispenser eliminates repetitive manual handling and weighing steps. Entire racks are completed in seconds, allowing operators to process multiple batches per hour and significantly increasing throughput in high-volume sample preparation workflows.

How do I clean the 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispenser between different compounds?

All product-contact components: mesh plate, reservoir, and baseplate: are removable for cleaning with ethanol, acetone, or other suitable solvents. Tool-free disassembly ensures thorough cleaning between different compounds. Dedicated mesh plates per compound are advisable for regulated GMP environments.

What are shipping times for LabTIE 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispensers?

Standard units are typically dispatched within 3–5 business days of order receipt. Delivery to most European destinations takes 1–2 weeks. Contact LabTIE for express shipping availability or international delivery options.

Can I order custom mesh plates for specific snap-cap tube sizes or powder volumes?

Yes: LabTIE manufactures custom mesh plates matched to specific snap-cap tube dimensions and target dispensing volumes. Provide your tube format specifications and required volume range, and the LabTIE team will produce appropriate mesh plates for your application.

Do LabTIE 45-Tube Snap Cap Powder Dispensers come with a warranty?
